Funerals

A funeral is a ceremony for celebrating, sanctifying, or remembering the life of a person who has died. A eulogy on the deceased person, verses and music comprise the ceremony which concludes with the words of the committal.

The funeral ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate the life of the deceased and assist people to weave together all the threads that will make up their unique funeral ceremony. The key role of a funeral celebrant is to work in consultation with the family or group and share resources and, if appropriate, offer funeral ceremony experiences and suggestions should they be needed. The outcome of this approach is that the family or group get a personalised and respecful funeral ceremony.
